Preston North End can confirm Josh Earl's contract with the club has been terminated by mutual consent.
The 23-year-old, who came through the PNE Academy, has now joined League One side Fleetwood Town.
Earl first joined the club at the age of nine and went on to sign a professional deal in 2017, pushing his way into first team plans.
The defender has since made 74 appearances in a North End shirt, with his first goal in professional football coming in October 2021 against Queens Park Rangers.
