Hunts Impressed With Euxton Facility

15 October 2020

Paul Huntington has spent eight years training at Springfields during his time with PNE, but he’s been pleased with the early impressions of the first team’s new base.

The Lilywhites acquired the Euxton training ground at the beginning of September and there’s been plenty of work going on ever since to make the place a real home.

Alex Neil and his players made the move at the start of the week and Hunts is happy with how it looks.

He told iFollow PNE: “We’ve got to be very thankful to the owner for providing us with this fantastic facility and I’ve played here before quite a few years ago in a friendly game and certainly it’s come on a lot from the work that has been done recently by the football club, by Preston North End.

“Just looking around the place it just gives everyone a lift and even just a change of scenery and the privacy factor as well, the fact we’re enclosed.

“I think it’s a real positive move for us as a group and also a football club.”

Hunts was keen to stress that while the old base of Springfields has everything they needed, Euxton is a huge improvement.

He said: “It’s obviously an impressive setup. We’re extremely lucky to have the facilities we’ve got here and we’re looking forward to a new change.

“Obviously we’re moving with the times and looking forward to this being our new workplace.

“It’s obviously going to take a bit of getting used to but I’m really pleased with what I’ve seen so far and all the lads are equally as impressed walking into the changing room and seeing how much better it is.

“I’m sure this will help us in the long run because this is where we do the majority of our work as you know and it’ll be an enjoyable place to come into daily.”

One of the many benefits of North End moving into a state-of-the-art training ground is that it will hopefully provide an extra incentive for potential new signings to join the club.

Hunts added: “We spend most of our time here and the way that the manager works he’s obviously very hands on with how we train and I think that him, as he always has, drives the standards each day and it’s up to us as players to carry that on.

“I’m sure that this will allow us to do that. With new players it’s nice to show them round a really good setup and obviously having the offices here for office staff will be helpful as well so we’re altogether so I can only see this being a positive move for the football club moving forward for hopefully many years to come.”
