Gaffer On 'Tough But Enjoyable' Premier League Task

5 January 2017

Manager Simon Grayson is relishing the challenge of facing Premier League giants Arsenal at Deepdale this weekend.

The Gunners visit Lancashire on Saturday for the FA Cup third round tie, and the PNE boss is looking forward to coming up against one of the top managers in the game.

Despite it being a tough test against the top flight side, the gaffer fees he and his side will thrive off the challenge. Speaking ahead of the game, he said: "It's a great game for our supporters, the players as well who are going to be up against some world class players. We are not sure who is going to be in that team but whoever it is they will be international players.

"It's a tough task but one we will thrive on and really enjoy and look forward to.

"From a personal point of view I am going to be up against a manager who has graced the Premier League for 20-odd years. The players are going to be against household names that they have only really seen on Sky and Match of the Day.

"It's a great opportunity for everybody and the supporters to really thrive off and there will be a real positive atmosphere.

"When you look at Arsenal and when they are on their game they are as good as anybody in the world.

"The way they pass the ball, the forward runners, they play quick, incisive football and they have shown that over the years now."

The fixture is a clash of English football's Invincibles, but the manager is fully focused on the present and hopes his group of players can cause a cup upset.

"People probably only remember the modern day Invincibles but ultimately this football club had the original Invincibles who did so well winning the FA Cup and the league in the first season.

"It's all about the past and the present but ultimately it's about a group of players on Saturday night going out to get the best out of our group, and ask questions of them.

"Obviously we are aware of their strengths and weaknesses but ultimately we will just go and enjoy it and see where it takes us."
