PNE Trio Named In Provisional Republic Of Ireland Squad

13 March 2017

Three Preston North End players have been named in the Republic of Ireland's provisional 39-man squad to face Wales and Iceland.

Aiden McGeady, Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan have been called up by Martin O'Neill ahead of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Wales on 24th March. Ireland then face Iceland in a friendly on 28th March.

McGeady has been in fine form for North End in recent months and it's no surprise he has been called up after been in the squad regularly.

Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan could be set to join up with the national side for the second time after call ups back in November.

Both players are yet to make an appearance for the boys in green but after impressing since joining North End from League of Ireland champions Dundalk in January, the pair can't be too far away from getting their first cap.

The trio are just three of five Irishmen playing for PNE at the moment, with Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne unlucky to miss out after their performances for Simon Grayson's side this season.

Find out if all three make the final squad when it is announced in due course.
